Our Story
The Pettengill House, Inc. is an award-winning non-profit social service agency for the local community. In collaboration with our community partners, we have extensive experience in providing "wrap-around" services to support at-risk individuals, children and families through education, intervention, and a therapeutic system of care.
The Pettengill House, Inc. was founded in 1994 by a diverse group of local residents and agency representatives to specifically address the needs of the most at-risk, underserved children and families. The original goals were primarily prevention related. However, it immediately became clear that the organization's clientele were primarily concerned with survival issues of food, clothing, shelter, health and safety.
We believe that individual and family stabilization is best achieved by identifying the level of need both individually and as a family unit and addressing said needs "one step at a time". Our primary concerns are the most basic human needs of food, clothing, shelter, health and safety.
Our Mission
To support and empower individuals, children, and families by providing education, comprehensive case management, and basic needs; and by coordinating community supports that contribute to individual and family stabilization, personal growth, and development.
Our Vision
The basic needs of every individual, child, and family in our service area are met.
Our Core Operating Values
We believe that individual and family stabilization is best achieved by encouraging self-determination, self-sufficiency, and personal responsibility, communicated with respect and dignity, without judgment or prejudice, and regardless of social or economic status.
