Volunteers Recognized at The Pettengill House Donor Appreciation Reception at Capri Seaside Italian Grille on May 4th 2009


(Salisbury, MA) -- More than 85 donors and volunteers were recognized for their support over the past year at The Pettengill House Annual Donor Reception on Monday, May 4th 2009.  The event was held at the newly refreshed and reopened Capri Seaside Italian Grille at Salisbury Beach, which sponsored the reception with support from employees of Salisbury-based SPS New England.

Two volunteers received special recognition for their dedication and service to the organization in 2008.  They are Barbara Hildt of Amesbury (third from left) and Anita McMahon of Salisbury (third from right).  They are joined by (from left to right):  Pettengill House Board President Rosalie Cuticchia, Amesbury Mayor Thatcher Kezer, Pettengill House Executive Director Deborah Smith (center), Salisbury Town Manager Neil Harrington, and State Representative Michael Costello.

Now entering is 15th year, The Pettengill House, Inc. ( www.pettengillhouse.org ) is a community social service agency that provides services to meet the growing needs of individual, children and families in Salisbury, Amesbury, Newburyport, Merrimac, West Newbury, Newbury, Rowley, Byfield and Groveland, including basic needs, emergency assistance, prevention education, case management, and more.  With community support, The Pettengill House's key achievements in FY 2008 include:

~ 2,585 clients (1,517 adults and 1,068 children, 237 of whom were homeless) received intervention and support services, an increase of 316 clients from FY 2007

~ 108,142 meals were provided, increase of over 10,000 meals from FY 2007

~ 240 children received backpacks and school supplies
(a four year total of 1,588)

~ 31 children received free dental care through the Massachusetts Dental Society Foundation's 
Mobile Access to Care Van

~ 618 school-age children and their families received support through School Link Services

~ $28,291.40 was provided in emergency assistance funds to families in need

Recently reopened with a new environment and new menu featuring authentic Italian cuisine and unique entree selections, Capri Seaside Italian Grille & Bar offers a taste of the Mediterranean on the shores of Salisbury Beach, serving traditional Italian favorites, fresh seafood selections and daily specials prepared with fresh, quality, local and imported ingredients.  It is located at 3 Central Avenue and Driftway, one block from Salisbury Beach; free on-site parking is available.  Capri is opened year round:  Tuesday through Friday open at 4:00pm, and Saturdy and Sunday open at 12:00pm.

The mission statement of The Pettengill House, Inc. is to support, empower, and coordinate community and state services, provide basic needs, emergency assistance, prevention education, case management and supports to those in need.

Friday: by Appointment Only

Tuesdays 9:00am - 2:00pm  &  4:00pm - 7:00pm

History

The Pettengill House, Inc. is a non profit community social service agency established in 1994 which receives its funding through grants and private donations.  The Pettengill House, Inc. staff oversee operation and provide programming services and community outreach.  The Pettengill House, Inc. was originally owned by Salisbury's Pettengill Family and is currently on loan to us from the East Parish Standing Committee.  This white Victorian home is located in the north section of Salisbury Square and is the main site of The Pettengill House.  Today's professional staff led by Deborah Smith is supported by a dedicated group of volunteers and community collaborators who donate their time, energy and resources to maintain and operate The Pettengill House, Inc. and provide services to individuals, children and families in need.
